Don Nester Chevy explains Chevrolet On Star
Chevrolet’s dedication to customer safety in their vehicles does not stop in the safety ratings of their vehicles, they are here for you every step of the way in the event of an accident or roadside assistance. That is why they have developed OnStar, a support system built into many of their new vehicles that will help you in emergency events.
OnStar has been providing peace of mind to its members for over 20 years saving countless lives. Not only does OnStar provide emergency assistance, you can also use it for many other useful features as well. Let’s look at 4 of the most popular features that OnStar provides.
Emergency Assistance
One of OnStar’s most popular features is the emergency assistance built in to many of GM’s newer vehicles. In the event of a crash, an emergency medical dispatch-certified OnStar advisor is available to assist you and even contact the correct emergency responders to reach you as quickly as possible. This can be used at the push of a button or even by the use of crash sensors automatically in some of Chevrolet’s newest vehicles.
Turn By Turn Navigation
Gone are the days of having to carry around a large map or print out MapQuest directions. Not only was this time consuming, but it was quite dangerous as you would have to focus on tiny print while driving. At the simple push of your OnStar button, you can get turn by turn navigation sent straight to your vehicle to help you get going in the right direction. You can even ask for the nearest point of interest and your advisor can access OnStar’s database of over 14 million interest points to help find the place that you are looking for when you do not know the address. This is a great tool for road trips where directions to the nearest hotel or gas station may be needed.
Stolen Vehicle Assistance
With OnStar’s many different features, the Stolen Vehicle Assistance can be one of the most important and best bang for your buck in the event of a theft. OnStar can notify you once your vehicle’s alarm system has been triggered with its Theft Alarm Notifications. In the event of a vehicle theft, once a report has been made with the police, OnStar can notify the local authorities of the vehicle location. You can also use the Remote Ignition Block that will block your ignition remotely to prevent a theif from starting your vehicle. To add even more features, OnStar can even use their Stolen Vehicle Slowdown to work with police to automatically slow your vehicle down to a complete stop once instructed by the authorities.
Roadside Assistance
Last but not least is roadside assistance. Roadside assistance is a tool that can be a life saver in the event of a flat tire or empty fuel tank. At the press of a button, a local service provider can be at your vehicle assisting you with your vehicle to get you back on the road as quickly as possible
